The town also sits at the exact centre of a triangle of reception venues I know by heart, Pontarmé 10 minutes away, Ermenonville 15 minutes, Chantilly 20 minutes. I've been photographing in Senlis for 10+ years: town hall, religious ceremonies, couple sessions in the pedestrian streets and receptions in the Valois castles.

Notre-Dame de Senlis cathedral ceremonies: diocesan authorization to obtain 30 days ahead. I know the rectory and liturgical constraints (no flash, limited movement, side-aisle framing), we prepare all of it together beforehand.
Couple sessions in the old town: cathedral forecourt, rue de la Tonnellerie, ramparts, jardin du Roy. Cobblestones, shaded alleys, stone facades, everything you need for timeless portraits in natural light, especially in late afternoon. At Lina and Cherif's wedding, while guests were heading to the Château de Pontarmé for the cocktail, we did the couple session on foot in the pedestrian streets: twenty minutes walking as a duo in these alleys often gives the album more than an hour of forced poses.
I work regularly at Senlis town hall. In September 2023, Ophélie and Vincent said yes there in the beautiful old ceremony room (wood panelling, chandelier, mural painting), before the Saint-Martin church in Borest and the reception at the Domaine de Monceaux. Logistics tip: the centre is pedestrian, you park at a distance, rather on the church side, and we build it into the schedule from the start.
Around Senlis, I return to the same Valois castles every season. Pontarmé, 10 minutes away: Jennifer and Eddy's first look in the rotunda in September 2024, Alice and Allan's winter wedding under the Christmas wreaths in December 2025. Ermenonville, 15 minutes: Coralie and Prince among the Gothic ruins of the park in September 2024. Chantilly, 20 minutes: Manon and Kevin at the Racecourse facing the Belle Époque stands in May 2024. The Ferme de Maubuisson in Verneuil-en-Halatte and the Abbaye Royale du Moncel complete the area.
The detail that brings me back: the end-of-day light on the stone of Senlis and the nearby castles. If your schedule allows a fifteen-minute sunset break, we take it, it is often the best series of the day.
Ceremony in Senlis then reception at a nearby castle: it is the most common pattern here and I know the routes to the kilometre. I arrive before the couple at every stage, day-before presence available, photo + video duo coverage with my team.
The signature venue
Senlis is one of France's best-preserved royal cities: it is here that Hugues Capet was elected King of the Franks in 987, at the royal castle whose remains adjoin the Jardin du Roy. The 12th-century Notre-Dame Cathedral (one of France's first Gothic cathedrals), Gallo-Roman ramparts and cobbled medieval streets of the historic centre complete the setting. For weddings, the combination of cathedral, pedestrian streets and garden offers three radically different photographic backdrops within 500 metres, a density few French cities can claim. 20 minutes from Chantilly, 45 minutes from Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle.

Seen and lived in Senlis
Ophélie and Vincent's wedding on 2 September 2023. Around midday, a private first look and the reading of their vows, then an hour of couple photos before the Senlis town hall at 2:30 pm (in Senlis, parking near the town hall has to be planned ahead). Then the church of Saint-Martin in Borest, and the reception at the Domaine de Monceaux. In September the estate's trees cut off the sun earlier than you would think: their evening portraits were timed before it slipped behind the curtain of trees.
Sarah and Anthony's pre-wedding session in October 2025, in front of Notre-Dame cathedral in Senlis, nine months before their wedding. Sarah loves photos, Anthony much less so: that is exactly what a pre-wedding session is for, breaking the ice with the camera before the big day, finding the angles that suit them and building trust with the photographer. On the wedding day, in July 2026, everything flowed.
Lina and Cherif's wedding, in October 2023: while the guests were heading to the Château de Pontarmé for the cocktail, we did the couple session on foot in the pedestrian streets of Senlis. What couples rarely realise before the big day: a walk together through the lanes of Senlis gives the album more than a long posed session on a crowded forecourt.
On 25 September 2026, Catherine and Philippe married at Senlis town hall, place Henri IV, at 4 pm. On the way out, no rice or petals but soap bubbles, catching the light against the town hall's dark door. Then an hour of couple photos, between a family garden and the cobbled lanes of old Senlis, on foot: a wrought-iron lantern, weathered shutters, their shadows cast on the limestone. In Senlis the setting starts a few steps from the town hall; you just have to keep that hour in the schedule.
Jennifer and Eddy's wedding at the Château de Pontarmé, 10 minutes from Senlis. We set up the first look in the château's grand rotunda: white columns, high moulded ceilings, brass lantern, and the backlight from the old diamond-paned windows drawing two silhouettes towards each other. That kind of image is never improvised, you anticipate it by knowing the venue, and this spot must be claimed early in the day before guests fill the spaces.
Alice and Allan's winter wedding at Pontarmé in December 2025, one of my best weddings at this venue. Christmas wreaths with red ribbons on the carved wooden door, white lanterns framing the steps, end-of-day light tinting the stone a warm ochre: December at Pontarmé is photogenic in a way few venues can offer. A winter wedding in the Senlis area is something I recommend without hesitation.
Coralie and Prince's wedding in September 2024, photographed by Peter from our team. The couple session took place between 11 am and 1 pm at the Abbaye de Chaalis, fifteen minutes from Senlis: the ruins of the abbey church, arches still standing, pale gravel and tall trees all around. Two hours on site between Coralie's preparations and the town hall, before a day that then sped on to Chambly and Clermont. In a place like this, time flies: we arrive with a set list of spots so we miss nothing.

What poses should we plan for a couple photo session?
None, and that is deliberate. Learned poses show in the photos: couples look like they are holding a position rather than living a moment. We give simple directions, walk, talk to each other, turn around, and we photograph what happens between two instructions. That is exactly what a pre-wedding session is for, offered as an option alongside the wedding package: you get used to the lens when nothing is at stake, so on the wedding day that step is already behind you.
How many photos are delivered on average?
Between 600 and 1200 retouched photos depending on coverage duration. All sharp, sorted chronologically, delivered in high resolution via a private downloadable gallery.
How do you behave during the ceremony?
Discreetly and silently — cameras in electronic shutter mode (no sound), movement only at key moments (entrance, exit, ring exchange). No flash, no interruption.
Do you shoot film or all digital?
All digital with two Sony A7 full-frame bodies. Color consistency, delivery speed and low-light quality (indoor ceremonies, evening parties) demand digital. Film-look aesthetic available in post-production if you prefer.
Can we see a full wedding?
Yes — private gallery of a recent wedding (with the couple's permission) is sent so you can see the look across a full day, not just Instagram images. It's important to project yourself.
How much does a wedding photographer cost?
In France, the range runs from €1,500 to €3,000 for a full day. Our packages start at €1,080, including the private online gallery, retouched photos and usage rights, and at €1,944 for the photo + video duo. What moves a quote is not the number of photos but the hours of coverage, whether a second shooter is present, and the deliverables: printed album, pre-wedding session, video alongside. Our prices are published on the pricing page, with no mandatory quote step.
Photo session, shoot, engagement session, pre-wedding: what is the difference?
None: they are different words for the same thing. Photo session and shoot are the everyday terms, couple session says what is being photographed, engagement session is the American term and usually happens after the proposal, pre-wedding means before the wedding, post-wedding or day after means once it is done. Behind those five words the service is identical: an hour and a half, just the two of you, in a place you choose, and the same photos at the end. The only real difference is the timing. Before the wedding, the session prepares the day itself. After it, it gives back the time you never had: the dress comes out again, you go where you could not go, you wait for the right light instead of making do with the one you have.
What is a photo session before the wedding actually for?
Three things, in this order. Spending time in front of the camera with nothing at stake, so that on the day you no longer wonder what to do with your hands. Settling together what you like, what you dislike and how close you are comfortable being: it is a visual brief, and it saves discovering your taste during the couple portraits, while the cocktail hour is waiting. And leaving with images you can use right away, for the save the date, the invitations, the welcome sign or your wedding website. In practice the session happens between three months and a year before the date, and couples who have done one arrive relaxed on the morning of the wedding: it shows in the portraits. It is not included in the wedding package, it is priced alongside it, in the same quote.
