Wedding photographer at La Mézandrée (Prouvais, Aisne). A former farm standing alone in open fields, its barn converted into a reception hall with exposed beams and around a hundred seats, plus two gardens that allow the secular ceremony and cocktail hour to be held on site. Gîtes on the estate mean getting ready and staying the night there: you can spend the whole day without taking the car again, which is exactly what Aurélie & Éric's wedding did. I cover this venue with an auteur approach — capturing real moments without interrupting. Private online gallery within a month. Around thirty minutes from both Laon and Reims.

Aurélie & Éric's wedding, on 29 August 2026, is the first we covered here. Their schedule opened with a line in capitals: EVERYTHING HAPPENS AT LA MÉZANDRÉE. Getting ready, secular ceremony in the garden, cocktail hour, dinner under the beams and the evening party, all in the same place from morning to night.
What that changes for a photographer, and therefore for your pictures: no journey to cover, no procession to catch up with, no slot lost between a town hall, a church and a venue. That time goes back to the people.

The secular ceremony is held in one of the two gardens, in front of the hedge. It is a full green backdrop with no building or car in frame, which is rarer than you would think: on many estates you have to crop tight to avoid a car park. Here the arch stands on its own and you can step back.
Light constraints and strengths: in late summer the late-afternoon light comes in low across the gardens, and the dry plain vegetation gives warm backdrops June cannot. At midday, however, there is no natural shade in the gardens — plan shade for your guests if your ceremony falls early.
The reception barn has exposed beams and photographs well in the evening, with room for a guard-of-honour entrance on both sides. The professional kitchen is available to caterers, and the estate imposes no curfew on music, no corkage and no cake-cutting fee: in practice, the party does not stop at a time set by the venue.
Field tip for couples: the estate's gîtes change the day more than you would imagine. Getting ready happens on site, nobody arrives late because they got lost, and part of the family sleeps there — which makes next-morning pictures possible.
Prouvais is about thirty minutes from Laon, Reims and Rethel: the venue is within reach of couples from two regions.
La Mézandrée suits every format: civil ceremony at the local or a nearby town hall, secular ceremony in the garden, religious ceremony at the village church. I handle the logistics of full coverage whatever the scenario.
Delivery and options: private online gallery within a month, fine art prints, wedding album and wooden USB key available as options. Day-before presence available on request, which the on-site gîtes make easy here.

What our couples say

Frequently asked questions
What poses should we plan for a couple photo session?
None, and that is deliberate. Learned poses show in the photos: couples look like they are holding a position rather than living a moment. We give simple directions, walk, talk to each other, turn around, and we photograph what happens between two instructions. That is exactly what a pre-wedding session is for, offered as an option alongside the wedding package: you get used to the lens when nothing is at stake, so on the wedding day that step is already behind you.
How many photos are delivered on average?
Between 600 and 1200 retouched photos depending on coverage duration. All sharp, sorted chronologically, delivered in high resolution via a private downloadable gallery.
Can we see a full wedding?
Yes — private gallery of a recent wedding (with the couple's permission) is sent so you can see the look across a full day, not just Instagram images. It's important to project yourself.
Do you print or create a photo book?
Yes — fine-art albums (canvas cover, matte photographic paper, French manufacturing) in 3 formats (20×20, 30×30, 30×45). Delivered with a presentation case. Count 4-6 weeks after layout approval.
Do you also photograph the civil ceremony at the town hall?
Yes, and for some couples it is the only ceremony of the day. The wedding room at a French town hall is often small and poorly lit, and you cannot move around freely: we take position before you walk in and only move for the moments that matter, the ring exchange and the signing of the register, with no flash and never stepping in front of the mayor. Coming out of the town hall is the best moment of the day for group photos, because everyone is gathered in one place, whereas guests scatter within ten minutes at the cocktail hour. If the town hall and the reception venue are far apart, tell us beforehand: the journey is part of the coverage and is built into the timeline, just like the getting-ready shots. We have photographed as many village town halls as châteaux.
How much does a wedding photographer cost?
In France, the range runs from €1,500 to €3,000 for a full day. Our packages start at €1,080, including the private online gallery, retouched photos and usage rights. What moves a quote is not the number of photos but the hours of coverage, whether a second shooter is present, and the deliverables: printed album, pre-wedding session, video alongside. Our prices are published on the pricing page, with no mandatory quote step.
Photo session, shoot, engagement session, pre-wedding: what is the difference?
None: they are different words for the same thing. Photo session and shoot are the everyday terms, couple session says what is being photographed, engagement session is the American term and usually happens after the proposal, pre-wedding means before the wedding, post-wedding or day after means once it is done. Behind those five words the service is identical: an hour and a half, just the two of you, in a place you choose, and the same photos at the end. The only real difference is the timing. Before the wedding, the session prepares the day itself. After it, it gives back the time you never had: the dress comes out again, you go where you could not go, you wait for the right light instead of making do with the one you have.
What is a photo session before the wedding actually for?
Three things, in this order. Spending time in front of the camera with nothing at stake, so that on the day you no longer wonder what to do with your hands. Settling together what you like, what you dislike and how close you are comfortable being: it is a visual brief, and it saves discovering your taste during the couple portraits, while the cocktail hour is waiting. And leaving with images you can use right away, for the save the date, the invitations, the welcome sign or your wedding website. In practice the session happens between three months and a year before the date, and couples who have done one arrive relaxed on the morning of the wedding: it shows in the portraits. It is not included in the wedding package, it is priced alongside it, in the same quote.
