Wedding photographer in Rambouillet

A château, a town hall inside a 1786 bailiwick, and 20,000 hectares of forest starting at the end of the street.

Rambouillet is the best-equipped town in the southern Yvelines for a wedding: 27,700 inhabitants, a château that served as a presidential residence, the Palais du Roi de Rome and its park, the Bergerie Nationale, and above all a town hall housed in the 1786 bailiwick building — its wedding room has a presence few communes in the Paris region can match. The Rambouillet state forest, its ponds and the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse regional park begin at the edge of town. I travel from the Oise across the whole Paris region; travel is quoted up front, based on real mileage.

Rambouillet's town hall is no ordinary municipal building: it is the former bailiwick, built in 1786, right in the centre. For the civil ceremony that changes everything. Steps and doorway give you 18th-century stone and proportions behind the couple, instead of the concrete forecourt that makes one commune's photos look like another's.

The château park and the Palais du Roi de Rome offer two opposite moods five minutes apart: water perspectives and formal alignments on one side, a more intimate garden on the other. When the schedule is tight that matters — two very different sets without getting back in the car.

The Rambouillet forest is the real asset here, and it demands method. Under broadleaf cover the light falls in gaps and midday contrast is brutal. I work there late in the afternoon, when the sun runs horizontally between the trunks, and I carry fill light for dense undergrowth. The Étang de la Tour, the Gruyer and the Coupe-Gorge give open sky when you need it.

Rambouillet is a crossing point: Paris is 45 km away, Versailles 29, and many couples hold the civil ceremony here before moving to an estate on the plateau or in the Chevreuse valley. I always build the photo schedule around real weekend travel times, not a software estimate.

The Saint-Lubin-et-Saint-Jean-Baptiste church hosts religious ceremonies in the town centre. I work there without flash, in available light, with fast prime lenses: a silent shutter and a step back beat good lighting that interrupts what is happening.

The Bergerie Nationale and the farms around town also host receptions. These are places to scout in advance: agricultural buildings often have good light on one side only, and a south-facing yard becomes unusable between 1pm and 4pm in July. I scout every time.

The signature venue

Rambouillet owes its château to royal hunting: an estate of François I and later Louis XVI, it became a presidential residence under the Third Republic and remained one until 2009. The Palais du Roi de Rome was built by Napoleon for his son, and the Bergerie Nationale founded by Louis XVI in 1786 to acclimatise the Spanish merino. The town is now the gateway to the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse regional park.

Super photographe !

Frequently asked questions

What poses should we plan for a couple photo session?

None, and that is deliberate. Learned poses show in the photos: couples look like they are holding a position rather than living a moment. We give simple directions, walk, talk to each other, turn around, and we photograph what happens between two instructions. That is exactly what a pre-wedding session is for, included in our packages: you get used to the lens when nothing is at stake, so on the wedding day that step is already behind you.

How long until we receive the photos?

30-photo preview gallery within 5 days, full retouched delivery in 4 to 8 weeks depending on the season. An email update notifies you at each stage.

Do you print or create a photo book?

Yes — fine-art albums (canvas cover, matte photographic paper, French manufacturing) in 3 formats (20×20, 30×30, 30×45). Delivered with a presentation case. Count 4-6 weeks after layout approval.

Do you shoot film or all digital?

All digital with two Sony A7 full-frame bodies. Color consistency, delivery speed and low-light quality (indoor ceremonies, evening parties) demand digital. Film-look aesthetic available in post-production if you prefer.

How much does a wedding photographer cost?

In France, the range runs from €1,500 to €3,000 for a full day. Our packages start at €1,080, including the private online gallery, retouched photos and usage rights. What moves a quote is not the number of photos but the hours of coverage, whether a second shooter is present, and the deliverables: printed album, pre-wedding session, video alongside. Our prices are published on the pricing page, with no mandatory quote step.
